Abstract: |
Susskind is one of the founders and associate director of the Program on Negotiation at the Harvard Law School, where he co-directs the MIT-Harvard Public Disputes Program. He also serves as director of the Environmental Policy and Planning Group in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning, which he has also chaired. His primary contributions to the fields of urban and environmental planning, negotiation and dispute resolution, and mutlilateral treaty negotiation involve many key areas of thought that have shaped theory and practice in the United States and elsewhere around the world. These include: public dispute resolution, environmental mediation, public entrepreneurship networks, mutual gains and consensus-building negotiation techniques, interactive representation in governance, mediation of land use disputes, management of sustainable development, and parallel informal negotiation as part of the treaty-making process. He is the author or co-author of 19 books. |
